At Ryan Oliver Upholstery, we offer a comprehensive range of services designed to restore, enhance, and preserve both modern and traditional furniture. Our work includes reupholstery of chairs, sofas, dining sets, headboards, office furniture, and bespoke pieces. We also provide services such as frame repairs, spring replacement, webbing renewal, cushion refilling, and fabric supply. Whether you're looking to revitalise a cherished family heirloom or update the look of your commercial premises, we bring expert craftsmanship and a wide selection of upholstery fabrics and materials suitable for various styles and uses.

Reupholstery is often a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to buying new furniture. Well-made furniture, especially older pieces with solid wood frames, is usually superior in build quality compared to many modern mass-produced items. Choosing to reupholster means you can preserve a piece that fits your home perfectly, holds sentimental value, or matches a unique space. Additionally, reupholstery allows for full customisation of fabric, colour, texture, and cushioning to suit your décor and personal style. It's also environmentally friendly, reducing landfill waste and the need for new raw materials.

The decision to reupholster often depends on several factors: the structural integrity of your furniture, the quality of its original materials, and its sentimental or monetary value. Furniture with solid hardwood frames, quality craftsmanship, or an antique heritage is usually worth the investment. If a piece holds sentimental value or perfectly fits your existing space, reupholstery can be the ideal solution. We're happy to provide an assessment to help determine if reupholstery is a viable and worthwhile option for your furniture.

Yes, many clients prefer to supply their own fabric, either for aesthetic reasons or to match existing décor. However, it's important to ensure that the fabric is suitable for upholstery purposes. Upholstery fabrics must meet durability standards and, for furniture used in domestic settings post-1950, must comply with UK fire safety regulations. We can advise on the suitability of your chosen fabric and guide you on quantities required for your specific piece. Alternatively, we stock a wide range of upholstery fabrics, including fire-retardant options, in various colours, textures, and patterns.

The timescale for an upholstery project varies depending on the size and complexity of the piece, fabric availability, and our current schedule. Standard projects, such as single chairs or dining seats, might be completed within one to two weeks, while more complex projects involving large sofas, extensive repairs, or bespoke commissions can take several weeks. At Ryan Oliver Upholstery, we always aim to complete projects promptly while maintaining our high standards of craftsmanship. We'll discuss estimated timelines with you during your initial consultation so you can plan accordingly.

Yes, we offer a convenient collection and delivery service from our base in Andover Hampshire. This service ensures that your furniture is transported safely to and from our workshop without hassle on your part. Depending on the location and size of the items, this may be included in your quote or charged at a nominal fee. We handle all items with care to prevent damage during transit, ensuring that your reupholstered furniture arrives back at your home or business in pristine condition.

Absolutely. In addition to domestic work, we also specialise in commercial and contract upholstery services. We work with businesses such as restaurants, hotels, offices, and public spaces to refurbish seating, booths, headboards, panels, and other upholstered installations. We understand the importance of durability, fire safety compliance, and the need for stylish yet functional interiors that withstand frequent use. Our service includes fabric sourcing, custom design, and scheduling work to minimise disruption to your business operations.
